The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man is a 2012 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The film is a reboot of the Spider-Man film series and stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker / Spider-Man. The film was directed by Marc Webb and written by James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent, and Steve Kloves. It is the first installment in The Amazing Spider-Man film series.
The film follows Peter Parker, a high school student who is bitten by a genetically-altered spider and gains superpowers. He uses his new abilities to fight crime and protect the city of New York. The film also stars Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Peter's love interest, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors / The Lizard, and Martin Sheen and Sally Field as Peter's uncle and aunt, Ben and May Parker.
The Amazing Spider-Man was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $757 million worldwide against a production budget of $230 million. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for Garfield's performance, Webb's direction, and the film's action sequences. The film was also nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Visual Effects.
The Amazing Spider-Man was followed by two sequels, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 (2018).
