The Boss 302 was a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang that was produced from 1969 to 1970. It was available as a hardtop or convertible, and was powered by a 302 cu in (4.9 L) V8 engine that produced 290 hp (216 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 290 lb-ft (393 N·m) of torque at 4,300 rpm. The Boss 302 was equipped with a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.91:1 rear axle ratio. It had a top speed of 126 mph (203 km/h) and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in 6.9 seconds.
The Boss 302 was designed to compete with the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It was a popular car with muscle car enthusiasts, and is considered to be one of the most iconic Mustangs ever produced.
Today, the Boss 302 is a valuable collector's item. Prices for Boss 302s have been steadily increasing in recent years, and a well-preserved example can sell for over $100,000.
