The BMW M5: A History
The BMW M5 is a high-performance executive sedan produced by BMW Motorsport GmbH. It is the high-performance variant of the BMW 5 Series and has been in production since 1984.
The first generation of the M5 (E28) was produced from 1984 to 1988. It was powered by a 3.5-liter inline-six engine that produced 282 horsepower. The E28 M5 was available with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
